Instructions for taking the test

On this page, you will find all the necessary instructions to correctly perform the self-collection at home.

Read each step carefully and do not hesitate to contact us for any doubts or questions.

The steps you will need to follow

1. After making the purchase, you will receive the kit at home within a few days: register on My GEK Lab and use the swab code (if you received more than one swab, you can use any of the 8-digit codes you received) to start the process.

2. Enter the test on My GEK Lab using the SKU you received in the order confirmation email.

3. Perform the capillary self-collection carefully following the instructions below…

  1. If you purchased a PerMè 360, PerMè, or Glyco Test, you must be fasting for 3 hours. For other tests, you can collect the sample anytime.
  2. Wash your hands thoroughly.
  3. Pre-open the vial with the swab.
  4. Move or massage the selected finger to facilitate blood circulation.
  5. Clean the finger with the disinfectant wipe.
  6. Let it dry for a few seconds.
  7. Prepare the fingerstick lancet, position it on the fingertip, and press firmly.
  8. Facilitate blood flow by pressing near the puncture.
  9. Open the vial, place the swab tip, and let it fill completely by capillary action.
  10. Press and massage if necessary to facilitate blood flow.
  11. Once the central channel is well-filled, conclude by passing the sides of the swab.
  12. Check that the swab is correctly soaked.
  13. Close the vial firmly.
  14. Clean the finger from any blood residues.
  15. Place the vial in the box.
  16. Repeat the procedure for each vial in the box.
  17. Store the sample in the refrigerator.

FAQ

Where can I find the product code?

The product code or SKU can be found in the purchase confirmation email.

I received the confirmation email for submitting the test, but I haven’t received the courier letter. What should I do?

Generally, the courier waybill is sent in the afternoon around 5:00 PM. If you do not receive it, we recommend checking your SPAM folder.

What should I do if I can’t stay home to wait for the courier?

If you have difficulty staying home to wait for the courier, you can leave the package with its waybill at an SDA branch or at the nearest Mail Boxes Etc. center.

If I submit the test on Friday evening, when will the sample be picked up?

If the test is submitted on Friday after 5:00 PM, the system will send the courier waybill on Monday afternoon, and the pickup will be automatically scheduled for Tuesday.

How long can the sample be kept in the fridge?

Our laboratory can analyze the sample up to 20 days after the collection. In any case, we strive to deliver the sample to the laboratory as quickly as possible.

When will I receive the report?

We guarantee the delivery of the report within 10-15 working days, but the actual time required is usually a bit less.
